MEET THE ARTIST

An elderly man painting a vibrant forest scene indoors.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

For more than six decades, Fred Nold has dedicated his life to capturing the beauty, history, and spirit of the world around us through vibrant, expressive oil paintings. Known for his masterful use of color, light, and storytelling, Fred’s work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and discover the extraordinary beauty found in everyday life.

A graduate of Parsons School of Design and New York University, Fred has built an accomplished career that has earned recognition from galleries, collectors, and critics throughout the United States. His paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries and are held in private and corporate collections across the country.

Fred divides his year between Hebron, New Hampshire, where the lakes, mountains, and changing seasons provide endless inspiration during the summer months, and Naples, Florida, where he continues to paint throughout the winter. Whether creating peaceful landscapes, vibrant florals, or thoughtful scenes of everyday life, each painting reflects his lifelong passion for seeing beauty where others may simply pass by.

He shares life’s adventures with his wife and greatest supporter, DeeDee. Together they enjoy traveling, discovering new places, and finding inspiration wherever the journey leads. Never far from Fred’s easel is Bruno, their beloved little white dog, who faithfully keeps him company in the studio and has become a familiar companion throughout his creative process.

Artist’s Statement

“Throughout my career, I have attempted to create a visual statement that would foster an awareness of the majestic beauty that surrounds us in our everyday existence.”

— Fred Nold

Critical Recognition

Acclaimed New York Times art critic William Zimmer praised Fred’s work in a feature published on June 16, 1991, writing of Anaconda No. 18:

“The most riveting of the works that carry a social theme is ‘Anaconda No. 18’ by Fred Nold… Mr. Nold’s van Gogh-like short brushstrokes signal emotion. That our back is to the Hudson in this painting is a chilly statement.”
